My First Post

Welcome to my new and improved blog!

Writing a first post feels pretty bizarre at the moment, because I’ve been blogging (rather erratically, I must admit) since early 2013. I feel awfully torn between introducing myself to the blogging community all over again and continuing from where I left off, so I think it’s best that I get vague introductions out of the way before I launch into the circus world of book reviews and random rants all over again.

To those of you I’ve never met, hi! I’m Amy. My life is tangled up with the plots and characters of countless stories that I’ve encountered over my meager 18 years. I love spending hour upon hour in that mindspace where reality is overcome by sometimes terrifying illusions. I’m happiest when my fingers are dancing over piano keys. Standing out makes me nervous, which is why I dyed my hair blue. I’m basically a walking contradiction with a sarcastic tongue and a chubby heart.

I decided a little while ago that it would be a good idea for me to develop a new blog site as soon as I finished high school. There were a number of reasons for this, but I think that the most important one was that I’ve changed a lot since I started my little blog at the age of 15. My writing has changed, my voice has matured, and my worldview has shifted, which means that I feel slightly detached from the things I used to write. This is not to say that I’m embarrassed by them, or that I don’t want to associate myself with them any more (I’ll probably even keep that blog up. It’s like the prototype for my writing career), simply that I need a new platform where I can work on reinventing myself.

This is my fresh start, something to anchor me into an unfamiliar world and keep me steady in shifting tides.
